Few teams have beaten Porto on their own stadium but Carlo Ancelotti's men had the courage and skills to accomplish in the CL match against these 2 giants.
Chelsea raised themselves to produce a performance that revealed a hint and intensity of previous success with a convincing effort and yet another clean sheet, the 7th in 8 matches.
Porto, as ever, were intuitive and technically accomplished and as well as Chelsea already qualified for the last 16, for the sixth time in seven seasons. Chelsea, who worked tirelessly to keep their defensive shape, merely flickered as an attacking threat in the first half. Anelka was sharp although Chelsea's only efforts in the opening 45 minutes were from a distance. In the second half Chelsea raised the tempo and gradually tightened the grip with Deco as a huge motivation. With brilliant passes keeping the Porto defense on the edge, Deco and Essien were leading one dangerous attempt after another, and in the end Malouda putting in an inviting cross to a sharp Anelka again being on the spot to head home from close range securing the victory.
Deco accomplished a strong performance by receiving a generous ovation on his return to his former club together with Ricardo Carvalho.
